Carbon Monoxide

Carbon Monoxide:
Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless and toxic gas. Because it is impossible to see, taste or smell the toxic fumes, CO can kill you before you are aware it is in your home. At lower levels of exposure, CO causes mild effects that are often mistaken for the flu. These symptoms include headaches, dizziness, disorientation, nausea and fatigue. The effects of CO exposure can vary greatly from person to person depending on age, overall health and the concentration and length of exposure.

Carbon Monoxide Alarms:
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recommends that every home should have a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm. CPSC also urges consumers to have a professional inspection of all fuel-burning appliances - including furnaces, stoves, fireplaces, clothes dryers, water heaters, and space heaters - to detect deadly carbon monoxide leaks. CPSC recommends that every home should have at least one CO alarm that meets the requirements of the most recent Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 2034 standard or International Approval Services 6-96 standard. We recommend sensors from American Sensors.

Propane Gas Detectors

For those who can't smell very well and use propane for cooking, hot water, or heat, we highly recommend a propane gas detector. The detector will go off and warn you of a leak long before the propane gas reaches explosive levels.

Freeze Alarms

The last thing anyone wants to come home to is a cold house. Worse yet is the damage that can result from frozen and burst water pipes should the house get below freezing. With a freeze alarm someone can be alerted in the event your house falls below a set temperature. This is a particularly important tool for people with seasonal or second homes, or folks who travel a lot and are worried about the reliability of their heating system. We recommend FreezeAlarm™ products for their reliability and ease of use. Please view a PDF comparison of their models.

Water Treatment

"Hard water" is water that contains calcium, magnesium, bicarbonates, and/or sulfates in quantities above certain levels. Hard water is a problem which has cumulative negative effects, such as scaly deposits on your fixtures, which can even lead to corrosion issues in your plumbing. If you think you have a hard water problem, Reinhardt Home Heating can help. Our staff is fully trained to evaluate and offer solutions. We can have your water tested and recommend a system that meets your needs and budget.
